Some preparations for the new baby’s arrival have begun…

Ok, so I know what you are thinking – better get moving on getting things done … that new baby will be here REALLY soon.  And you know what, you’d be right.  But anyone who knows Ricky and I knows that we usually get down to the wire before we finish stuff – I guess that’s just how we are.  The prep work for Aidan’s arrival was done last minute – I was helping paint the new office downstairs at 34-35 weeks pregnant!

Well, that old office is now a new room for Austin!!  He moved downstairs this past weekend.  We forgot to get some before pictures – with all the junk, office type stuff, treadmill & exercise bike in it … but here are some after pictures with all his new furniture, new bedding and all his stuff in his room.  We still need to decorate but that will come with time, I’m sure.

And … we have almost completed his bathroom downstairs.  Right now, he is still having to walk upstairs to shower and potty but soon, he will be using his brand new bathroom downstairs.  I’ll get more pictures as we finish the work and complete the decorating but for now, here is a sneak peek.

The tub – we still need the faucet cover … hoping the plumber shows today with that.

The vanity – which is nicer than any vanity in the house with its granite counter top and nice cherry base!!!

As you can see, still no ceiling but hopefully that will be done in a couple of weeks.  We will be putting a can light in over the shower too so that you can see well in there.  With no window in there it seems kinda dark – hence the BRIGHT BLUE paint that matches Austin’s towels and shower curtain!

And the tile floor – no other room in our house has tile in it!  I’m still trying to figure out why the 11 year old gets the best bathroom in the house but hey – he did have to give up his room and move down there … might as well give him nice stuff!

I will update more after the process is complete and it is usable but I figured everyone (including my dad & Linda) would love some good updated pictures of our progress.

Now it’s time to start painting the nursery, Aidan’s & Anson’s room and the upstairs bathroom!  Whew… so much to get done!

Anson is using a fork!

While I was at class a couple of Saturdays ago, Ricky took the initiative to start showing Anson how to use a fork.  He picked it up pretty quick – so Daddy snapped these pictures for Mommy since I couldn’t be there to see it for myself. :(

He seemed to pick it up pretty quick – like he had always been doing it.  Oh, did I forget to mention that on this same exact Saturday, he got Aidan to pee-pee in the potty for the first time too.  He was busy, wasn’t he???  Hope he doesn’t expect me to get so much stuff done during the week when he’s at work…. LOL

A fun day at McWane

For Austin’s birthday, he asked to go to the circus.  When those plans fell through for us, he still got to go (Thank you, Grandma!!) but we decided to let him still take that day off from school (yeah, I know … I slacked on being mommy & let him have a free day!) and take him to McWane Science Center.  The boys all had a blast!  Ricky took off work too so it was a wonderful family fun day!

Anson seemed to be excited about everything he saw there.  He pointed and said “What’s that?” so many times – too cute!

The bigger boys playing a “musical chairs” kind of game.  You have to be standing on one of the colored marks when they stop moving.

Anson enjoyed putting his hands in here – pushing the beads back thru after Mommy fixed them for him.

And playing in the water too!  It was so hard to get Anson to leave when it was time to go though.  He had a lot of fun!!!

Random pictures from January 2009

Not an unusual occurence for us to spend the day at home but definitely different for mommy to get out the camera and take over 200 pictures playing with the settings, lighting, etc….  Here are a few of the better ones from the day (there were more but I figured this was enough).

Aidan looking cute as can be – and playing his new Leapster he got for Christmas.  He sure does love that thing!

Anson being precious reading a book and then a real sweet picture of his little face.

This is a nice random shot that I happened to catch.  Anson got this helicopter for Christmas.  It has a pull-string on it and balls that you put into the top for counting, color recognition, etc… Well, Anson thought Diego should take a ride in the helicopter so he put him in the top instead of the balls.  Too cute – the way little ones minds work is hilarious sometimes.
